2021 Student Board Members
Kira completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware (c/o 2018), receiving a B.S in Medical Diagnositcs with minors in Biology, History, and Medical Humanities. While in college, she was selected as a Plastino Program Scholar and received funding to spend the summer in China and learn about the intersection of health, medical care, and government policies in relation to disabled children in Chinese orphanges. Kira is currently a second year student at the Drexel University College of Medicine (c/o 2023). During her first year in medical school, Kira was selected as a Dornsife Global Development Scholar and received funding to spend the summer in Uganda partnering with World Vision to work on projects about behavioral changes in relation to WASH. Unfortunately, she was unable to carry out her project due to covid-19. Kira is excited to serve as a Student Board Member of the GWA as the team engages a multi-faceted approach to solving WASH related issues at the community level, locally and abroad.
Ilana grew up in Moorestown, New Jersey and attended Moorestown High School before graduating in 2020 and coming to the University of Pennsylvania. She is in her freshman year studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Ilana also has a minor in Environmental Science, which is where she gets her interest in environmental issues. Ilana hopes to one day attend law school and become an environmental lawyer to help with the current climate crisis.
Water issues have had a particularly profound impact on her life since her hometown has dealt with issues of clean water for many years. This year, she became a student board member of the Global Water Alliance and hopes to help in any way she can to add to the team
